Priests celebrate anniversaries

JACKSON – Ten priests serving in the Diocese of Jackson are celebrating significant anniversaries of ordination this year, including Bishop Joseph Latino (May 25), who will celebrate 50 years along with Father Patrick Noonan (June 9), retired, and Father Martin Ruane (June 8), pastor of Grenada St. Peter Parish.
Msgr. Elvin Sunds (Aug. 5), Vicar General, marks 40 years. Three priests will celebrate 30 years of priestly service: Father Bill Cullen (Jan. 8), retired; Father Arokia Savio (April 24), pastor of Belzoni All Saints and Yazoo City St. Mary Parishes; and Father Anthony Quyet (June 18), rector of St. Peter Cathedral.
Reaching the 20 year milestone are Father Alphonse Arulanandu (Feb. 5), pastor of Brookhaven St. Francis; Father Kent Bowlds (June 12), pastor of Cleveland Our Lady of Victories; and Father Tim Murphy (Nov. 27), a Glenmary Home Missions priest serving in Northeast Mississippi.
Celebration plans are in the works for Bishop Latino and Fathers Noonan and Ruane. More details will be released soon as those plans are finalized.
