ACT workshop
CAMDEN — Sacred Heart Parish will provide a free workshop for the ACT college entrance exam Saturday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Participants are asked to bring their lunch. In order to have enough materials available, those planning to participate should call Sister Donna Gunn, 601-331-3300. Friday, Sept. 17, is the deadline to register for the test on Oct. 23. Cost is $33. Another opportunity to take the test this year is Dec. 11.
Youth Mass
MERIDIAN — The next youth Mass for the Catholic Youth of Meridian will be celebrated Sunday, Sept. 5, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish. All youth and parents are invited to join for breakfast at Cracker Barrel after Mass (Dutch treat). This will replace the weekly Sunday meeting.
Beginning Sept. 12th, the Junior Youth of Meridian (JCYM) will meet on Sundays from 4 - 6 p.m. and the CYM will meet at the same time on the second and third Sundays of each month.
Lunch & clean up
TUPELO — On Sunday, Sept. 12, St. James Parish youth will gather for lunch after the 10:30 a.m. Mass and then will clean up an elderly parishioner’s yard.
An information session for teens and parents about the mission trip (Catholic Heart Work Camp) to Orlando in the summer of 2011 will be held Sunday, Sept. 19, after the 10:30 a.m. Mass in Mary’s Room.
Catholic scout retreat
JACKSON — The Office of Youth Ministry’s Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting (DCCS) is preparing for its second annual Catholic Scout Retreat which is set for Sept. 24-26 at the Warren Hood Scout Reservation (Andrew Jackson Council).
The retreat is open to all Catholic troops and packs in the diocese as well as Catholic Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from non-Catholic packs and troops.
In addition to the usual fun and faith-filled activities the DCCS will offer Religious Emblems Counselor training Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

‘Good Cheer’
OXFORD — The University of Mississippi Catholic students and friends are invited to join St. John Parish’s Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) for “Good Cheer” (fellowship and faith-based discussion) on Wednesdays from 7 - 8 p.m. at the library (120 South, 11th St., just off the Square).

Parent-teen meeting
OXFORD — St. John Parish will hold a meeting and potluck dinner for parents and teens to kick off the beginning of the school year Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Parents are asked to bring a dish according to their last name: A-F, dessert; G-M, main course; R-T, veggies, salad; U-Z, bread.
Nursery will be provided during the meeting for under-age Total Youth Ministry (TYM) children. Religious education classes begin Sunday, Sept. 12.
