Scholarship recipient
GREENWOOD — August Malouf is the 2010 recipient of the Florence M. Biggers Memorial Scholarship at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.
The scholarship, which is named for the parish’s late longtime secretary, was awarded in recognition of her active faith, leadership and service to the community.
Malouf, a senior at Pillow Academy, has served this year as president of the parish’s CYO. She will attend the University of Mississippi.
Drop & Dash
MERIDIAN — The Junior Catholic Youth of Meridian (JCYM) rescheduled their Drop & Dash for Sunday, May 23, at 3 p.m. Participants are asked to bring cookies.
aThe youth Mass at St. Patrick Church will be at 5 p.m. This will be the last official youth Mass until August.
Youth car wash
JACKSON — St. Therese Parish Life-Teen youth group will hold a car wash Sunday, May 23, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the church parking lot.
Youth gathering
SOUTHAVEN — The monthly gathering of Christ the King Parish youth will be Sunday, May 16, from 2 - 3:30 p.m. in the social hall. All current eighth-graders are invited to join as the incoming freshman of 2010-2011.
Youth book sale
CORINTH — St. James Parish youth group, “Faith on Fire” will have a book sale Saturday, May 15, from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the southwest corner of Shiloh/Harper roads.
Proceeds will go toward expenses for the annual youth convention, mission trips, community service projects and fun/educational projects.
Students graduating from high school or college are asked to provide their names, parents names, high school or college, date of graduation and degree, if applicable.
The Baccalaureate Mass is set for Sunday, May 23, at 9 a.m.
What is God’s call?
CULLMAN, Ala. — Abbot Cletus Meagher, OSB, and the monks of St. Bernard Abbey are inviting young men in grades sixth-eighth to a free vocation awareness camp at St. Bernard Abbey, July 8 -11.
During the camp, participants will pray with the monks, attend Mass, and will hear vocation stories about their roles of service to the church.
The camp will include time for sports, games, hikes, lessons, and other activities.

Memorial scholarship
VICKSBURG — The St. Aloysius High School Class of 1993 has established the Robert K. Foley III Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of their classmate, Robert Knox Foley III, who passed away this past December.
The scholarship will honor a St. Aloysius graduating senior who best exhibits the characteristics of spirit, service, and leadership in the same way that Foley lived his life.
The Class of 1993 plans to award this scholarship in 2011 in the amount of $1,000 and have set a goal to raise $10,000 to ensure the fund will continue.
Those who would like to contribute, are asked to send a check payable to “Vicksburg Catholic School” with a notation on the memo line for the “Robert Foley Scholarship donation.”
Baccalaureate Mass
CORINTH — St. James Parish will have a Baccalaureate Mass Sunday, May 23, at 9 a.m. to recognize all the graduates of the three county parishes (St. James, Iuka St. Mary and Booneville St. Francis of Assisi).
Honoring graduates
CAMDEN — On Sunday, May 30, Sacred Heart Parish will honor all graduates in the parish during the 9 a.m. liturgy.
Graduates are asked to wear their caps and gowns that day, if possible, and to turn in their names to Jerome Eldridge.
Dinner for graduate
IUKA — St. Mary Mission will host a potluck lunch for Tishomingo High School graduate, Cody Fielding, Saturday, May 22, after the 5 p.m. Mass.
