Sue Anderson honored with faculty trust

NATCHEZ – His three children designed an award to honor a Cathedral School employee who possesses the main characteristics that their father exemplifies — faith, sacrifice, a belief in Catholic education, and most importantly, a sincere love for God.
The faculty and staff selected Sue Anderson as this year’s recipient. The award is the Jules Michel Faculty Recognition Trust.
anderson       All Cathedral faculty and staff are eligible to receive the award and all vote on who receive the award. Anderson, a first grade teacher assistant, has worked at Cathedral School since August 1986 in the lower elementary.
Michel is now principal of Jackson St. Richard Elementary School, but when his children attended Cathedral schools in Natchez he was principal of the unit school which included the elementary, middle and high schools.
The Michel children – Jennifer, Stephen and Jeff – funded the trust and came up with the following criteria for selection of the trust recipient:
michel      1. Loyalty — Loyalty to the vision of Catholic education.  Seeing the importance of Catholic education in a community and being the one who wants to deliver it to the next generation.
       2. Sacrifice — Passing on the more lucrative careers in life and choosing one that impacts young people most.  Preparing them to make life long decisions using their faith as their guide.
       3. Happiness — Great satisfaction knowing that you are not just educating but you are leading young people in the discovery of their own faith life.
       4. Good Shepherd — The role of leading those to Catholic education.  Creating an atmosphere that draws children, parents, other adults, and educators to you.
         5. Good Listener — A good leader listens first.  By listening first you are fully aware of what is being asked of you and most importantly what is NEEDED from you.   This is sometimes hard to do with children and teens.
         6.  Love of God — To be around someone who has a true love for God is an awesome feeling.   Having a sense of peace knowing that each day you are able to call on the greatest Teacher in the world.
