Eucharist `perfect love’

— The Eucharist means to live by that same Holy Spirit that like a light overshadows you and lights up our souls.

— Jesus said he would be with us until the end of time. He knew that in our human frailty, we needed something tangible to help us remember his promise. He took the basics of his time, bread and wine, and changed them into his body and blood.
He gave himself to us in this special way. I can receive him — body, blood, soul and divinity. He is with me, in me, food and drink for my soul, and I am with him. And, I believe him.

— When my CJ was about four-years-old at the elevation of the Mass everyone around him knew Jesus was there. CJ would say, “There comes Jesus!” with such joy. We all smiled. I still do.

— The Eucharist is perfect love. It unites me personally with Christ and is
my haven of peace and comfort, of hope and assurance.

— I asked the Lord, “How much do you love me?” He replied. “This much.”
He streched out his arms, and he died.

From conversations by members of Our Lady’s Portion,
a Secular Franciscan Order (SFO) based in Columbia, Miss.
