Sister Steiner dies in Milwaukee, Wis.
MILWAUKEE, Wis. — School Sister of St. Francis Annora Steiner, 91, who served as an educator for more than 40 years and later served in provincial administration, died Oct. 30, at Sacred Heart Convent in Milwaukee.
Sister Steiner served schools and parishes in Mississippi, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, and Costa Rica. In the Diocese of Jackson, Sister Steiner served at Yazoo City St. Francis School from 1951-1953; at Walls Sacred Heart School from 1973-1975, 1978-1979, and 1986-1987; and at Sacred Heart Convent, Walls from 1992-1993 and 1994-1996.
She worked in the Development Office for the School Sisters from 1995-2006, when she retired and served in the ministry of prayer and presence, first at St. Joseph Convent and then at Sacred Heart Convent, Milwaukee, until the time of her death.
Sister Steiner is survived by a niece and nephew, other relatives, friends, and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 74 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Nov. 4, at St. Joseph Convent, Milwaukee, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
