Butler presents benefit recital in Fondren
JACKSON — Angeley Butler, 18, was recently chosen as one of 15 people nationwide to study opera at the International Performing Arts Institute in Kiefersfelden and Munich, Germany this July.
Butler, a member of St. Peter Parish, will present a benefit concert at Fondren Presbyterian Church, Sunday, May 29, at 3 p.m. to raise funds to attend the institute.
This opportunity will enable her to work with Robert Tannenbaum, a renowned professor of opera in Munich and New York’s Metropolitian Opera soprano, Barbara Daniels, among many others.
Butler is a sophomore at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) majoring in music industry and vocal performance.
The concert is free. Donations are not necessary but will be appreciated.
Those unable to attend but who would like to make a donation can send it to: Angely Butler, in care of Mississippi Catholic, P.O. Box 2130, Jackson, MS 39225-2130.
