Deanery V host Catholic Celebration in Tupelo
TUPELO — On Saturday, Oct. 2, St. James Parish will host a “We Hold a Treasure,” a Catholic Celebration of Deanery V from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Father Chuck Gunti, OFM, will be the English keynote speaker and Sigifredo Bonilla, pastoral minister at Ripley St. Matthew Mission, will be the Spanish keynote speaker. 
Father Gunti has been a friar for 45 years and a priest for 37. His main ministry is to conduct parish missions throughout the United States and present Engaged Encounter weekends.
The day’s activities include a bilingual Mass, sessions, and activities.
The breakout sessions will be on Hispanic and Anglo youth, social justice, English and Spanish vocations, lay ministry, Catholic Charities office in Vardaman, a multicultural panel, statistics from the Poverty Task Force, the Dwelling Place, a Loyola panel in English and Spanish on LIMEX “A Treasure to you and the Parish” and a presentation on the upcoming Catholic Day at the Capitol on Jan. 26, 2011.
The parish “Guadalupanas” group will be selling dinners for $7 a plate which includes a drink. Participants can also bring their own lunch.
Catholic Charities, the Dwelling Place Loyola LIMEX and the parish will have booths providing information and religious articles. For information call 662-842-4312 .
