Cycling For Change Team
cycles through Vicksburg, Natchez
NATCHEZ – During the weekend of Aug.7-8, St. Mary Basilica Parish welcomed a team of cyclists to Natchez lead by Father Matthew Ruhl, SJ, of Kansas City.
The Cycling for Change (C4C) team is cycling 5,000 miles from the state of Washington through rural towns and metropolitan cities to Key West, Fla., in an effort to call attention to poverty in local communities and to highlight the good work that social organizations like Catholic Charities, USA are doing in communities.
Catholic Charities Campaign to Reduce Poverty gathers people of goodwill to focus on advocacy and action on four pillars — hunger, health care, housing and economic security – tp redice [pvertuy om American by 50 percent by the year 2020.
St. Mary welcomed this group to the 5 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass. After Mass, the local Knights of Columbus council provided hamburgers with all the trimmings for the C4C team, parishioners, and members of the Natchez Cycling Club.
