Songs, art celebrate Sister Thea Bowman’s legacy CANTON — The Catholic Community of Canton’s Holy Child Jesus Parish and School, Sacred Heart Parish, Camden Sacred Heart Parish and surrounding area parishes were taken on a paintbrush journey in celebration of the 20th Memorial Celebration of Sister Thea Bowman, FSPA, the weekend of March 19-21.
Brother Michael O’Neill McGrath, artist, writer, and engaging orator, lifted up the audience to his world of Sister Bowman as depicted through his narrative and vibrant paintings in his book “This Little Light: Lessons in Living from Sister Thea Bowman.”
Events took place at Holy Child Jesus Church and in Sacred Heart’s Parish Center on Sunday, March 21, the finale of a three-day memorial celebration that involved participating members from the entire Canton community: African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, parents, teenagers, mamas, daddys, grandparents, aunts, women, men, preschoolers, priests, and sisters.
