Why Catholic? retreats explore Eucharist
JACKSON — “The Eucharist: Bread for the Journey” is the theme of Why Catholic? retreats planned for next month in several locations throughout the Diocese of Jackson. Sessions will be available in both English and Spanish.
The retreats are open to everyone whether they participate in Why Catholic? programs in their parish or not.
The retreats will offer a deeper look at the Eucharist, as part of the six session which are focusing on the Catholic faith in sacramental liturgy.
Why Catholic? is a program developed by Renew Inc. for evangelization and adult faith formation in parishes.
It explores Catholic teaching based on the four pillars of the “Catechism of the Catholic Church” - profession of faith, sacraments of faith, the life of faith, and Christian prayer and Scripture.
The four year process was designed as a means to foster the goals of “Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us,” the 1999 U.S. Bishops pastoral letter on adult faith formation.
Nearly 80 parishes in the Diocese of Jackson have been participating in the Why Catholic? process since the fall of 2008. The retreat will be available at the following locations:
