Sister Clare Hogan buried in Natchez
MOBILE, Ala. — Sister Clare Elizabeth Hogan, a Daughter of Charity, died at home on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the age of 83.
As a Daughter of Charity for 66 years, Sister Hogan first ministered as a teacher in Keokuk, Iowa. After graduating from Catholic University she served as a social worker in Jackson, Miss., and in California, Kentucky and Indiana.

arities in Natchez, Miss., for many years. In Mobile, she served as administrator of St. Mary’s Home, and most recently as a counselor at 2-B Choices for Women of Catholic Social Services.
While in Natchez, Sister Hogan worked in a variety of programs, including Prevention and Awareness of Child Abuse programs, Helping Us Grow Stronger (HUGS), a program to help teen mothers bond and nurture their infants, The Healthy Start Program which targets families with at-risk newborns, Emergency Aid, Christmas Shoe Drive for the needy and the Guardian Shelter for Battered Families.
She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Hogan Freeman of Metairie, La., her brothers: Benjamin Hogan, Jr. of New Orleans, Ralph Hogan of Metairie, Lawrence Hogan of Kenner, La.; Ned Hogan of Mt. Pleasant, S.C, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Feb. 3 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Mobile.
Internment was at Natchez City Cemetery.
