Conference helps Catholics heal,
navigate life after divorce
ATLANTA — The Journey of Hope Conference 2010 will be held Feb. 27-28 in Atlanta and will offer resources and advice for divorced and separated Catholics. The conference will address issues of healing, living the Catholic faith and navigating life after divorce.
Registration is open to separated and divorced men and woman and those involved in related ministries.
Conference workshops will be structured to provide information, facilitate discussion and help attendees apply what they have learned.
Workshop topics include annulments, helping children of divorce, financial solutions, dating and intimacy, forgiveness and healing, and receiving the sacraments.
The conference will also provide a means for clergy and those in ministry to divorced Catholics to better understand how to serve this greatly underserved population of the church.
Father Thomas Williams will be keynote speaker. He is an author, theologian, and CBS/NBC News analyst. He will speak about his book, “Can God Be Trusted?,” and the issue of how those who have experienced divorce and feel let down can trust God.
Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta will celebrate Mass on Sunday. Having experienced the divorce of his own parents, Archbishop Gregory is particularly sensitive to the needs of divorced Catholics. The sacrament of reconciliation and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will also be available during the conference.
Journey of Hope Conference 2010 will be held at the Marriott Atlanta North Hotel.
Journey of Hope programs for divorced Catholics are held throughout the United States; Journey of Hope podcasts, the book, Divorced. Catholic. Now What?, and the DVD Voices of Hope can be found at divorcedcatholic.com.
