Benedictine Sisters sponsor retreats
CULLMAN, Ala. — The Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center announces the 14th annual Healing Grief Retreat to be held Friday-Sunday, Aug. 7-9. The retreat provides a spiritual framework for helping to heal the grief of those who have experienced the death of a loved one.
The experience can also be beneficial for those who minister to the grieving. Through prayer, reflection, conferences and small group interaction, participants can grow in their understanding of the grief process, and draw upon their spirituality as a means of healing.
The retreat will be led by Father Carl Malm, grief minister and health care chaplain, and Margaret Anne Whitsett and Maggie Little of First United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Ala.
The cost is $175/person for a shared room; $195 for a private room.
For more information or to register call the Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center, 256-734-8302.
On Aug. 21-23, the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery will host a vocation discernment weekend for single, Catholic women ages 18-45 who are interested in learning more about the Benedictine way of life.
The retreat, entitled “Seeking God: The Benedictine Way of Living,” will be directed by Sister Magdalena Craig, OSB, vocation director for the Sacred Heart Community, assisted by a team of sisters. The weekend will include reflective presentations, Liturgy of the Hours, Eucharist and meals with the sisters and time for personal prayer and reflection. For those discerning their vocation this is an invitation to “come and see” the monastic way of seeking God.
For more information or to register contact Sister Craig, 256-734-2199. There is no charge for the weekend; however, donations will be accepted.
