Convocation Oct. 12-15
JACKSON — The biannual Convocation for Priests, Lay Ecclesial Ministers and Pastoral Ministers has been scheduled for Monday - Thursday, Oct. 12-15, in Greenwood. Sponsored by the Priests’ Continuing Formation Committee, the convocation’s theme will be “Evangelization in a Multicultural Church and World.”
Presentations will include Hispanic and African-American cultural issues and planning a multicultural liturgy. Time for discussion and processing will also be incorporated into the convocation. There will also be an afternoon for excursions and recreation.
Registration cost for the event is $100 for religious order priests, lay ecclesial ministers and pastoral ministers.
A block of rooms under the name Diocese of Jackson has been reserved at the Greenwood Best Western at a rate of $67.50 per night. Call the hotel (662-455-5777) to make reservations. Cost for diocesan priests (room included) is $300 which is covered by the yearly parish assessment for continuing formation. Diocesan priests should make reservations with the hotel as well.
Anyone who registers before Aug. 15 is automatically entered in a drawing for a three night stay at the Alluvian Hotel in Greenwood. Drawing will be held Sept. 8.
Sign in for the convocation will begin at 2 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the Greenwood Best Western. Registration brochure with more details will be posted on the diocesan website and also e-mailed to all parishes.
