Sister Kokot celebrates 60th anniversary
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sister Donata Kokot, an Ursuline Sister of Louisville, is celebrating her 60th year in religious life this year. She spent nearly half her time as a sister in ministry and service to the people of Jackson beginning in 1977.
For the next 28 years, Sister Kokot taught Christian living to students at St. Mary and St. Therese schools, and filled the role as both an administrative assistant and medical records clerk at St. Dominic Hospital. “All my ministries were my favorite because I was doing God’s work,” Sister Kokot recently wrote.
She also taught at schools in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and South Carolina. In 2008, she returned to the Ursuline Motherhouse in Louisville to serve out her ministry in prayer.
