Holy Child Jesus students celebrate inauguration
CANTON — Students and faculty at Holy Child Jesus School celebrated President Obama’s Inauguration in grand style. Students gathered together to view the history-making inauguration, then celebrated with dancing, cheers and refreshments.
Dressed in their Sunday best, girls were given strands of pearls by principal, Felicia Jackson-Stewart. “I heard about a national initiative (Girls with Pearls) for all young ladies to wear pearls on inauguration day in honor of our First Lady, Michelle Obama; I wanted our girls to be a part of this,” she said.
“The excitement of the day was so amazing. We get out textbooks every day, and have the students read and write about history. Today they witnessed history for themselves. This was an experience for them that has empowered our boys and girls to continue to reach for greatness.”
