‘Catholic Celebration’ set in Tupelo
TUPELO — The second annual “Catholic Celebration” will be held at St. James Parish Saturday, Jan. 31, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with refreshments.
Msgr. Elvin Sunds, vicar general of the Diocese of Jackson, will make a keynote presentation at 10 a.m. followed by group discussions of “witnessing.”
The first breakout session will be at 11 a.m.
The celebration of the Eucharist will be at noon followed by lunch and viewing of booths.
The second breakout session will be at 2 p.m. with the closing ceremony at 2:45 p.m.
Breakout sessions will feature: lay ministry formation by Alice Hughes, director of the diocesan Office of Faith Formation; Lee Oswalt of Loyola University of New Orleans Institute for Ministry (LIMEX); Glenmary Social Justice/Eco Spirituality, by Glenmary Committee on Social Justice, a Hispanic session by Elquin Gonzales, director of Hispanic ministry at St. James Parish; Father Kent Bowlds, diocesan director of vocations; and Sister Terri Rodela from Northeast Catholic Charities.
There will be activities for children and youth. Babysitting will be provided.
