Diocese offers training to lay ministers
BATESVILLE/MADISON — The diocesan Office of Faith Formation will offer a conference based on the document “Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord” at Madison St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Saturday, Sept. 20 and at Batesville St. Mary Parish on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Edward Hahnenberg, associate professor of theology at Xavier University, Cincinnati, will be the keynote speaker. He served as consultant to the U.S. Bishops’ Subcommittee on Lay Ministry in its preparation of the document “Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord,” a resource for guiding the development of lay ecclesial ministry.
Nine breakout sessions are scheduled: — Leading Prayer: an art and skill. — Companions on the Journey.
— National Standards — WHY? — Faith Formation as the DRE. — RCIA: Total Parish Ministry. — Mentoring as Journeyers.
— Catechists — Excite, Exhilarate, Explore.
— How to Involve the Worshiping Community in “Good Liturgy.”
— Adolescent Catechesis: The Heart of Youth Ministry.
In Madison the conference will be from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Lunch will be served.
In Batesville the conference will run from 1 - 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
Cost is $30 per person.
