George Roman, Linda Raff decide
to retire from diocesan positions JACKSON – Two diocesan department heads have decided to retire, Bishop Joseph Latino announced this week in a letter to potential search committee members who will help him search for new directors.
George Roman, director of the Department of Stewardship Development, announced he will retire on Feb. 29, 2008, and Linda Raff executive director of Catholic Charities, has also announced her retirement at the end of September 2008.
For 16 years Roman has served as director of the office which oversees the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Jackson, the Catholic Service Appeal (CSA), Grant Resources, Parish and School Stewardship, and the Planned Giving Program.
Raff who has worked at Catholic Charities for almost 30 years spent the last 14 years as executive director.
In announcing the news, Bishop Latino said, “It will be hard to replace these directors. Both Roman and Raff have made tremendous contributions to Catholic Charities and the diocese over the years.”
The bishop hopes to begin the search this month.
