About 80 clergy, deacons and lay ecclesial ministers descended on this historical Mississippi River city, the home of the first see of the diocese, for theological reflection on their individual ministry and the perspectives and experiences of invited speakers and presenters in ministry in the diocese.
Under the theme, “Pastoral Ministry in the Jackson Diocese,” the convocation kicked off on Monday, Oct. 15, and ended on Thursday, Oct. 18.
Bishop Joseph Latino began the convocation with an overview of “Pastoral Ministry in the Diocese of Jackson in 2007,” which highlighted the hopes and challenges faced by the diocese.
The next few days featured speakers and guest presenters on various aspects of pastoral ministry from clergy wellness to evangelization in parishes.
For the first time, lay ecclesial ministers were invited to participate in the afternoon session on Wednesday to share perspectives of their ministry and experiences in the diocese.
