Spring Hill class explores Torah
       JACKSON — If you wonder about the world of ancient Israelite literature and want to study and explore it historically and literarily for enjoyment and maybe even enlightenment, the fall class of Spring Hill College in Jackson is for you. “Pentateuch: Explorations in Torah” will be taught by the editor of the Dead Sea Scroll Concordance, Dr. James Bowley.springhill
       Classes will be held on Saturdays, Sept. 8, 22; Oct. 6, 20; and Nov. 3-17, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Madison St. Joseph High School, 308 New Mannsdale Road.
       Participants will study ancient religion and the making of what is called sacred Scriptures and Bible, specifically the Books of Moses on Pentateuch. The course will also touch on our world and how we engage that ancient world. “All participants need is curiosity,” representatives from Spring Hill College said.
       Dr. Bowley is chair of religious studies at Millsaps College. He teaches in the general area of religious studies and ethics and specifically in the area of Hebrew language and literature.
       He is nationally known for his work in the area of the Dead Sea Scrolls and is the author of numerous articles on Moses and prophecy in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

       Significant tuition reduction is available for informal auditing of courses (Easy Listening), on a space-available basis, with priority going to first-time students, those working on prerequisities, and graduates of Spring Hill theology programs.
       Spring Hill College students may spread tuition over a number of months for a nominal enrollment fee through Tuition Management Systems.        The next Spring Hill courses are: Christology (Systematic/historical) Dec. 1, 2007-Feb. 16, 2008, and Social Ethics (Moral) March 1-May 3, 2008.
