Katrina work trips announced VIEW PHOTOS
JACKSON — The dates of the Katrina work trip to the coast in August have changed, according to Theresa Prejean, volunteer coordinator for Catholic Charities.
“The trip will still have us working with Lutheran Disaster Service in Ocean Springs but we will now be arriving on the afternoon/evening of Aug. 12 (a Sunday) and departing the following weekend — either Saturday evening (Aug. 18) or Sunday morning (Aug. 19),” she said in an email to potential volunteers, old and new.
Prejean said this will be the longest trip scheduled so far, but as always, volunteers are welcome to come for any portion that they are available. “I have one skilled crew leader committed,” she said, “now I just need a crew to work with him!”
Tentative work trip dates have been set for the remainder of the year. “Locations still have to be determined but I wanted everyone to have a chance to mark their calendars. All of these trips follow the pattern of a Wednesday evening arrival and a Sunday departure,” she said.
Dates are: Sept. 19-23; Oct. 24-28; Nov. 7-11 and Dec. 12-16.
Most likely, Prejean said, we’ll continue to work with Restoration Point in Pass Christian, St. Clare Recovery in Waveland and One House at a Time in Pearlington
