Conference calls men to be warriors
CLARKSDALE — Three guest speakers, a Catholic lay evangelist from California, the founder of RADIX ministry, and a priest from New Jersey will present “Called to be a Warrior,” the topic of the fourth annual Catholic Men’s Conference.
The event, sponsored by St. Elizabeth Parish, is set for Friday-Sunday, Aug. 17-19 and is for men age 21 and older.
Jesse Romero, a full-time bilingual Catholic lay evangelist recognized nationally for his dynamic and Christ-center preaching will be one of the presenters. He is a retired Los Angeles deputy sheriff.
Doug Barry is founder of a Catholic ministry called RADIX. Organizers said he presents the Catholic faith in a “dear and enthusiastic manner, using a variety of means such as drama, music, comedy, and history.”
Father John Gordon is the director of the pre-theologate program at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ill. He is a priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, N.J., and is active in the Cursillo movement.
