School Sisters of St. Francis celebrate jubilees
On Saturday, June 16, a total of 89 U.S. School Sisters of St. Francis will celebrate milestone anniversaries of service as women religious.
The following sisters have served in the past or presently serve in the Diocese of Jackson:
40 years
Sister Margaret Held
has lived her religious ministry in the education and nursing fields. From 1975-1980 she was a social worker at CADET Health Center in Holly Springs and a community health nurse there (1983-1986).
She served in the nursing field for Marshall County Health Services in Holly Springs (1986-1993) and as a nurse practitioner for the Mississippi Department of Health in Tupelo (1994-1997), at DePorres Health Center in Marks (1997-2003) and at the University Clinic-Holmes County in Lexington (2003-present).
She has a master’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus (1994). She presently resides in Durant.

50 years
Sister Margaret Sue Broker has lived her religious ministry in education. At Sacred Heart School in Walls she taught from 1961-1994, served there as principal (1994-1996) and then worked in its development office (1996-1999). She has been teaching at Sacred Heart School in Southaven since 1999 and resides in Walls.

Sister Julene Stromberg has lived her religious ministry in education and in service to seniors. She taught at CADET School in Holly Springs from 1978-1995, at Holy Family School in Holly Springs (1995-1998) and served there as treasurer of the school (1998-1999). She was activity director at Christopher Care Home in Holly Springs (1999-2005).
Sister Stromberg presently resides in Holly Springs and has been teaching math at Holly Springs High School since 2005.

60 years
Sister Noel Le Claire (Renelle) presently resides in Milwaukee, Wis. She has lived her religious ministry in education, social work and social justice. Working in Mississippi from 1992-1994, she was a social service worker for Sacred Heart Southern Missions in Holly Springs and worked in economic alternatives for the Social Service Agency in Holly Springs from 1994-2005.
Sister Maria Ann Raef (Esther) has lived her religious ministry in education and in healthcare. Sister taught at Sacred Heart School in Walls from 1959-1965. She resides in Campbellsport, Wis.
70 years
Sister Annora Steiner has lived her religious ministry in education.
She taught at St. Francis School in Yazoo City from 1951-1953 and at Sacred Heart School in Walls (1973-1975; 1978-1979; 1986-1987). She also did volunteer work there from 1992-1993; 1994-1996. Sister Steiner now resides in Milwaukee, Wis.
Sister Leota Wiederholt (Milburga) has lived her religious ministry in food service.
Sister Wiederholt ministered in Yazoo City for 50 years serving as homemaker at St. Francis Convent from 1948-1970 and as manager of food service for the Headstart program of Yazoo Community Action (1970-1998). Sister Wiederholt resides in Milwaukee, Wis.

75 years
Sister Rita Rose Baumert (Jasper) has lived her religious ministry in education.
Sister served as principal and teacher at Sacred Heart School in Walls (1953-1959). Sister Baumert resides in Campbellsport, Wis.
