Word spreads about town’s `best kept secret’
PASS CHRISTIAN — For its April 26-29 work trip to Pass Christian, Catholic Charities volunteers partnered with Restoration Point Foundation, based in Pass Christian, according to Theresa Prejean, long-term recovery volunteer coordinator.
The team worked at the home of a local resident who owned one of the only daycare businesses in town prior to Hurricane Katrina.
Restoration Point is helping her rebuild her combination home and daycare. The structure totals approximately . 1,000 square feet.
“A big part of our team’s job was erecting two walls, to close off the kitchen, in keeping with local building codes,” according to Prejean. “Putting these walls up involved framing, wiring and hanging and floating sheetrock. The group also completed hand rails on the home’s front and rear staircases. Some also volunteered through “visitation,” going to the homes of individuals and families to check on these them, visit with them, offer encouragement and prayer.”
