Campaign seeks a million prayers for justices
Dear Editor,
    • Do you believe in the power of prayer? — If so, this initiative is for you!
    • Do you believe we can raise our voices often enough from May, 20 - 26 so that one million prayers can be offered during this week? — If so, this initiative is for you!
    • Do you believe that our efforts at comprehensive immigration reform need the combined efforts of prayer and action? — If so, this initiative is for you!
Attached is a special initiative designed by the Justice for Immigrants Campaign. We are asking that you share this project with your constituents and ask them to keep passing it on to others so that during the week preceding Pentecost we may raise our voices in prayer as our legislators debate the elements of a comprehensive immigration reform bill.
We seek for them, and for all people, the guidance, insight, knowledge, and courage needed to make decisions that are equitable and respect the needs of the most vulnerable among us.
    • Imagine the power of having us join together throughout the week to utter at least one million prayers, and how pleasing that will be to our generous and loving God.
    • Imagine the power we hold as we call our senators, telling them what we need for immigration reform and how we have been supporting them in these days by our prayers.
    • Imagine sending your senators a copy of the prayer!
So we ask two things, prayer and action.
Our action will be rooted in prayer and there can be no better way to celebrate the gift of the Spirit on Pentecost Sunday.
Sincerely,
Jane Burke, SSND
National Manager
Justice for Immigrants Campaign

The Justice Prayer

Come, O Holy Spirit!
Come, open us to the wonder, beauty, and dignity of the diversity found in each culture,
in each face, and in each experience we have of the other among us.
Come, fill us with generosity
as we are challenged to let go and allow others to share with us
the goods and beauty of earth.
Come, heal the divisions
that keep us from seeing the face of Christ in all men, women, and children.
Come, free us to stand with and for those
who must leave their own lands in order to find work, security, and welcome in a new land,
one that has enough to share.
Come, bring us understanding, inspiration, wisdom, and
the courage needed to embrace change and stay on the journey.

Come, O Holy Spirit,
show us the way.
