Macko admitted to candidacy
NEW ORLEANS – At recent ceremonies in the Chapel of Notre Dame Seminary, Bishop David Choby, of Nashville officially admitted to candidacy for holy orders Charles Arnold Macko of the Diocese of Jackson Miss.Charles Macko
The Rite of Admission is celebrated when a seminarian has reached a maturity of purpose regarding his vocation and has shown the necessary qualities for ordained ministry.
Through this liturgical rite, a seminarian makes a public intention of receiving holy orders and resolves to continue his preparation, in mind and spirit, in order to give faithful service to Christ and his church.
During the celebration at Notre Dame Seminary, Bishop Choby reflected on the instruction inviting the candidates to recognize the challenges they will face in their lives as seminarians and as priests in the future.
He encouraged the candidates to continue their preparation for ordination confident that Christ would support them through the church.
In June, the candidates will begin a seven month internship in the Jackson diocese. During this internship, they will continue to learn more about ministry through parish experience and pastoral supervision.
