Seven parishes plan missions

JACKSON – The following parishes have scheduled missions in February and March.
       In Batesville, Msgr. Bob Pearson from Spokane, Wa., will preach a mission/revival at St. Mary Parish Sunday-Wednesday, Feb. 25-28, at 7 p.m. His theme will be “Putting Christ in our daily lives.” Topics include: Why do bad things happen to good people, dealing with illness, suffering, and advanced years; Did you leave Christ at home when you went to work today?; and Family life: the challenge of maintaining Christian values in this day and age.
       Childcare will be provided. For information call 662-563-2273.
       Canton Sacred Heart Parish will host a mission for the Catholic Community of Canton        Monday-Wednesday, Feb. 12-14, at 7 p.m. Father Jim Sichko, a priest of the Diocese of        Lexington, Ky., will be the presenter. Organizers said, “He is as the voice of laughter, storytelling and praise.” A light supper will be served at 6 p.m. each day.

       Greenville St. Joseph Parish mission is set for Sunday-Wednesday, Feb. 25-28, at 7 p.m.        Father David Knight, author, teacher, and preacher, will be the guest speaker. He will speak at all weekend Masses.

       Greenwood St. Francis of Assisi and Immaculate Heart of Mary parishes will hold their annual mission Saturday-Thursday, March 24-29, at Immaculate Heart of Mary at 6:30 p.m. each day.

       Jackson St. Richard Parish Mission, “Let in the Light — Facing the Hard Stuff,” will be held Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 12-13, at 7 p.m. Patricia Livingston, award-winning author and counselor who lives in Tampa, Fla., will be the guest speaker. She will speak at all Masses        Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10-11.
       A light dinner will be served in Foley Hall from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided for up to age four. For information call 601-366-2335.
       Jackson St. Therese Parish’s Lenten mission will be presented by the Thea Bowman Spirituality Center in Raymond. The mission will be lead by Father Roman Vanasse, O.        Praem, Sunday-Wednesday, Feb. 25-28, at 7 p.m. There will be a potluck dinner on Sunday at 6 p.m.
       Priests will be available for the sacrament of reconciliation Monday-Wednesday from 6:15 - 6:45 p.m.
       Father Vanasse, a theologian who offers lectures, missions, days of recollection and retreats around the country, will talk about the sacraments, and the way Jesus, through the church, prepare us for the final meeting with him.

       Meridian St. Patrick and St. Joseph parishes have scheduled a mission for Saturday-Wednesday, Feb. 10-14. Father David Knight, well-known author and preacher, will lead the mission. A reception will be held at St. Joseph Parish after the 8:30 a.m. Sunday Mass.
       The first session will be held on Sunday from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at St. Patrick followed by a reception in the Family Life Center. A mission talk will be given Monday-Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph and at 6:30 p.m. at St. Patrick.
