Women’s conference set Feb. 8-10

       CLARKSDALE — Over the past two years, women from Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and other states have come together for a weekend of teaching, fellowship, food, fun, and great music.
       A third conference will be held Friday-Sunday, Feb. 8-10. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Arise my Beloved, My Beautiful One, and Come.” (Song of Songs)
The conference, will be at St. Elizabeth Parish, begining at 7 p.m. Friday and ending at noon Sunday.
       The conference is for all women who want to grow in their love and knowledge of the Catholic faith and experience the love of God for them.
       Speakers will be Father John Vandenaaker, a member of a new community of priests known as the Companions of the Cross from Ottawa, Canada.
       The charism of the community is evangelization. Father Vandenaaker is currently serving as academic coordinator of the Companions of the Cross.
       Debbie Herbeck, a convert from the Jewish faith, has worked for 20 years in youth and women’s ministry speaking at high school youth conferences, directing youth camps, and mentoring high school and college age women.
       She is the director of the Renewal Ministries School of Catholic Bible Study and is editor of its newsletter.
       Sara Grieshaber will share her testimony of growing up Catholic but not really embracing her faith until the Lord touched her life. Grieshaber is a 25-year-old from Ann Arbor, Mich.
Lynn Mondt along with members of her music ministry will lead praise and worship for the weekend. They minister regularly at women’s conferences and retreats.
       Books, tapes and Lighthouse Catholic Media CDs will be available for purchase.
       Cost is $60 per person and includes lunch and dinner on Saturday (served by the men of St. Elizabeth) plus a Continental breakfast on Saturday and homemade snacks prepared by the women of St. Elizabeth.
