Homeschool group meets in Memphis
MEMPHIS — Two practical and academic minds are coming to Memphis via the ninth Catholic Homeschool Conference, March 14-15 at St. Louis Church.
Maureen Wittmann has written a number of homeschooling books, with her latest, “For the Love of Literature,” as the highlighted topic for the conference this year. Along with her husband, Rob, she has homeschooled her seven children and has contributed articles to Our Sunday Visitor, Homeschooling Today, and Catholic Home Educator among others.
Wittmann is the contributing editor for Heart and Mind, a Catholic homeschooling magazine. Other topics she will cover include children with disabilities, the art of reading aloud, and “RELAX! You, too, can homeschool.”
Father Chad Ripperger, FSSP, PhD, was ordained in 1997, and is a member of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) which is a society founded with the approval of Pope John Paul II.
Father Ripperger received a doctorate in philosophy from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome, and has been a professor of dogmatic and moral theology and philosophy at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Neb. He has written the three-volume work: “Introduction to the Science of Mental Health,” and is regularly published in the Latin Mass magazine.
Originally from Casper, W.Y., he is currently associate pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Omaha, Neb.
A curriculum hall boasting academic materials and religious articles will be open Friday from 2-5 p.m. at a cost of $5, or one may attend the entire conference (pre-register $25/adult, $30/couple, clergy FREE, prices at door increase $10).
For more information go to www.blessedsacramenthomeschool.org or contact Kim Trouy at 901-758-5032.
